Module 2: Part 4
2.4 Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Lesson Video: The Art of Decomposition
⏳ Coming Soon
Learn how to break down the project into controllable pieces (Substructure, Superstructure, Finishing).
The **WBS** is the backbone of any schedule. If you don't build it correctly, the entire project will be difficult to manage.
1. WBS Concept
It's about dividing the project into **Deliverables**. We aren't splitting activities yet; we are splitting "geographical or structural parts." For example, "Ground Floor" is a WBS node, while "Ground Floor Slab Casting" is an Activity.
2. Organizing WBS in P6
Open the **WBS** window. Demonstrate how to arrange nodes by discipline (Civil, MEP, Arch) or by location (Zone A, Zone B).
💡 BIMitPlaniT Tip: Always use intelligent WBS codes. For example, use 'C' for Civil and 'E' for Electrical. This allows you to filter the entire schedule in seconds.
